Once you have completed your poster, write a persuasive response in at least three paragraphs. Use your Betrayer or Patriot evidence chart from the Canvas lessons and class to argue that Brutus is either a traitor or a patriot.
- **Introductory Paragraph**: Include details of the text. What is the title of the play? Who is the author? When was it written? Introduce these details and state your thesis. Do not begin without introducing the context to the audience.
- **Body Paragraph(s)**: Provide evidence to support your thesis and thoroughly explain it. Use the elaboration techniques learned in cycle 4.
* Consider the following about each piece of evidence: Is the line sincere, sarcastic, or something else? How can you tell? Which words suggest the character’s true feelings? Are there multiple interpretations? What are they?
* Begin each body paragraph with a transitional phrase and answer all questions in complete sentences.
- **Concluding Paragraph**: End with a strong conclusion that sums up the entire essay and restates the thesis. What was Shakespeare’s purpose in portraying Brutus this way, or what did you learn about human nature from this play?
Remember:
- Use transition words and phrases within and between paragraphs.
- Follow the mini-essay format (intro statement, details, concluding statement).
- Provide at least two embedded quotes or paraphrased ideas that support your thesis.
- Ensure you have a minimum of three full paragraphs (an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion).
